He is based in New York.

Carroll has more than fifteen years' tenure filling senior level positions including CEOs, as well as functional leaders in sales, marketing, finance and engineering, focusing on the software and internet/digital media sectors.

Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Carroll was managing partner for a boutique retained executive search firm, where he led all activities in the New York metro market. Previously, he was managing partner of a 10-person boutique firm serving the technology industry. Earlier, he was a SVP and head of human capital with Pequot Capital Management, serving as the talent advisor to the Boards and CEOs of more than 40 portfolio companies.

Carroll began his career as a naval aviator where he served in the Gulf War as a maritime patrol pilot and mission commander. He received a bachelor's degree in oceanography from the United States Naval Academy.
