YUM! Brands CEO David Novak touts Senn Delaney's impactful culture-shaping principles in new book on sale in January, 2012
Taking People with You — The Only Way to Make Big Things Happen

October 17, 2011
In his new book that hits bookstores in January 2012, YUM! Brands CEO and Chairman David Novak discusses some of Senn Delaney's culture-shaping concepts and principles and credits them with having a lasting influence on  his life and leadership. An advance review of Taking People with You —The Only Way to Make Big Things Happen, published in the October 10 issue of Publishers Weekly, describes the book as far more than a self-help guide for top leaders.

Publishers Weekly Review of Taking People With You

“In what first appears to be an over-the-top self-help book for leaders turns out to be a grounded guide drawing on the tools and thoughts of “two of the most notable thinkers on culture and breakthrough thinking in business”: John O'Keeffe (Business Beyond the Box) and Larry Senn (co-author of Winning Teams — Winning Cultures).

Novak, chairman and CEO of YUM! Brands, offers powerful and sincere directives for creating a cohesive, success-oriented corporate culture. Fourteen lessons are divided into three sections with clever exercises, tools, worksheets, and charts throughout. Much of it could have felt familiar, but it's presented with clarity, contagious enthusiasm, organization, and accessibility. Added to that are numerous quotes, lessons, and stories from Warren Buffett, Jamie Dimon, and Jack Welsh, Presidents Eisenhower and Kennedy, Martin Luther King Jr., and even Colonel Sanders. Business people at all levels will find something of value.”

Taking People With You is Novak's follow-on leadership book that delves into his leadership principles and approach. He credits Senn Delaney with learnings that have been instrumental in his life and business success. His first book, The Education of an Accidental CEO, also referenced Senn Delaney and founder Larry Senn's lasting influence.

Senn was recently described by the editor of The CEO Forum magazine as “the father of corporate culture.”  Dr. Senn is chairman of Senn Delaney, which he founded in 1978 to assist CEOs and senior executives in creating high-performance teams and winning cultures. That vision and leadership has made Senn Delaney into an international firm that is widely recognized as the leading authority and practitioner in the field of culture shaping. Senn and his firm have worked with CEOs and senior teams of almost 100 of the Fortune 500 companies.

Senn is the author of several books, including Winning Team-Winning Cultures. He is completing his next book, Up the Mood Elevator: Living Life at Your Best.
