McDonald will be joining as a Partner in the Industrial Practice and will lead the firm's Automotive Practice in the Americas.

McDonald brings deep search experience serving a wide variety of clients including Fortune 500, mid-cap public, private equity and venture-backed companies. He has helped build leadership teams in multiple sectors including automotive, industrial, plastics, chemicals and energy.  

McDonald joins Heidrick & Struggles from another global executive search firm where he served as Co-Leader of the Global Automotive Practice and a member of the Digital Transformation Practice. He has assisted companies in finding digital leaders to transform their businesses using technologies such as connected vehicles, smart-grid connectivity and the Internet of Things.

McDonald's experience prior to entering the executive search industry includes eight years at General Electric and seven years with Ford Motor Company.
